Rental Terms & Conditions

  • First time renters must contact the shop before renting to schedule an available training day. The best way to contact is by emailing catherine@runningdoequilts.com with your requested date. Training days are rental days but with additional hands on assistance learning the machine & pro-stitcher program. Training covers longarm basics & edge to edge quilting. For more advanced training, please sign-up for one of our Handi-Quilter events or reach out to schedule private lessons.

  • Renters are required to purchase a rental kit for their first time renting. Renters using a loaner kit (from the shop or a friend) will be charged a $50 training fee on their first visit.

  • Renters can choose between computerized & non-coputerized rentals. Be sure to choose your preferred method when renting- staff will be scheduled accordingly & not all staff is trained to use Pro-Stitcher.

  • Renters are not guaranteed to finish a certain amount of quilting. Some experienced quilters with smaller quilts & less involved quilting designs may finish up to 4 on a really productive day, others may only get through 1 quilt (2-3 is average). Tension troubles, computer errors, thread breaks, etc happen. They are part of a normal quilting day for any longarm quilter (especially when learning) & do not entitle the renter to any “make-up time”.

  • Renters who stay past allotted time will be charged a $20 late stay fee to cover staff time. Half finished quilts can be un-zipped and re-zipped at a later date. On occasion a staff member may be able to stay late to allow extra finish time. This time will be $20/hr with a $20 minimum). Availability will be determined on a case by case basis. Normal rental hours are 9:30-4:00 on weekdays and 10:00-4:30 on Saturdays.

  • Renters are expected to perform basic steps on their own after the first training visit (loading quilts, setting up areas & designs, drag & dropping, etc). We are always nearby to answer questions & help with more advanced maneuvers but we are not there to do it for you. Handi-Quilter has great resources for refreshing your memory between visits and we are working on our own library of video tutorials available exclusively to our customers.

  • Rental days may be shared with a friend, but it is not recommended to bring more than 2 people per machine. If a trained renter brings an untrained friend to share a day without arranging for a training day & paying the training fee, they will be responsible for leading said friend through the process.

  • Rental deposits are non refundable, but you can request a date change with at least 14 days notice.

  • Rental days are reserved on a first come, first serve basis.

March and April 2025 appointments are by appointment only. No training days for first time renters will be available during this time and staff help will be limited due to the heavy traffic flow of the All Texas Shop Hop. E-mail catherine@runningdoequilts.com for appointment requests.
